Organizational Continuity, also referred to as business continuity, enterprise resiliency, or continuity of operations, is an interdisciplinary activity with an associated skill-set involving the creation and validation of practiced logistical programs (plans, redundancies, processes, etc.).
As the Organizational Continuity profession becomes more defined, critical gaps are emerging between those employees with the right training, certifications/credentials, and growing industry demands. Numerous research centers, course work and industry certifications are being developed to help address this need. With the pivotal position risk management practitioners have in a volatile global context, ensuring these demands are met is more than just a workforce or economic development priority – it is also an issue of national competitiveness.
The National Center for Organizational Continuity (The Center) is an interdisciplinary training and research collaborative. It is dedicated to ensuring the nation’s workforce obtains and maintains the high demand skills required to ensure both public and private sector resiliency in the event of a disruption of any scale or type.
The Center serves as a dynamic “information clearinghouse” where training providers, certifying organizations, research centers, public agencies, private industry and individuals from across the country can network, share information and best practices, find training opportunities and develop career pathways within this emerging field.
